Just my personal opinion about many hotels around the world. The best and the worst based on my experience.

These are personal experiences and I am not responsible for the correctness, completeness or quality of the information about the hotels.

The Best
The Worst

THE BAY HOTEL (Cape Town - South Africa)

The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, one of the famous beach of Cape Town, is close to the Table Mountains with wonderful view to the Lion' s Head and not far from the beaches of Clifton. Who loves Cape Town and the sea cannot ask more: the location is the best one.
The hotel is not close to the center and relatively far away from the beutiful area of the vineyards but you can be sure to have a pleasant permanence in a not easy town.
The rooms are wide and complete of all with a wonderful sight on the beach or on mountains.
The main swimming pool (not really big) can offer a good swim if you do not have the courage to swim into the cold sea.
The others two swimming pools are small bathtubs where refresh from  the hot sun of Africa watching the sea and have a drink.
The buffet breakfast  is very rich can be made in a lovely terrace where you can see the unforgettable beach and sea of Camps Bay and maybe see the dolphins.

THE VICTORIA HOTEL (Melbourne - Australia)

At the arrival the Victoria Hotel of Melbourne doesn’t seem special but "The Vic", as is usually called, is one of historical hotel of Melbourne. It opened in 1880, 45 years after the foundation of Melbourne.
If you visit the hotel you can see and understand his history: the lobby, as an example, is substantially still in use today and is similar to the lobby of the end of ‘800.
In the past of the hotel there are some historical records: the greatest hotel of the Commonwealth in years Twenty and Thirty, when it was a much better hotel; the first hotel of Melbourne with electric lights in the rooms. Now, after one hundred years, the Vic still conserve part of the fascination even if the level have been lowered and, sure, it is not the same top hotel.
The location to visit Melbourne is really good with acceptable rooms and good prices.
Based in Little Collins Street is an easy place to walk around Melbourne or sightseeing with the public transport (perfect in Melbourne, the best of Australia).
The rooms are of various quality: top quality (and obviously expensive), standard and economic. The room of medium level is probably the better choice if you like save money without renounce too much to the quality. The furnishing appears, in some cases, a bit old. The baths, not always big, are order and relatively modern.
The map of the hotel looks a bit chaotic and sometime is not difficult, specially the first times, to get lost in the labyrinth of the corridors. Probably the renewals changed too much the "topography" of this hotel of 200 rooms.
The are also many facilities available: one small swimming pool with Jacuzzi (roof top, Internet wi-fi and Internet pc, bar (Vic' s Bar, obviously) and restaurant. You can have a rich breakfast, and that’s a bit strange, in the contiguous restaurant (thai if I remeber well) but not in the hotel restaurant. Staff is always kind and available and the management is organized form Accor.
